Principal - Tamara Nakia Littlejohn

Carter G Woodson Principal Tamara LittlejohnHello Woodson Parents, Guardians, Community, and Friends

I have the distinct honor to be the principal of The Carter G. Woodson Elementary School located in the heart of Bronzeville. I have been the principal for the past three years. I would like to take this opportunity to share more about myself to you.

I am a native Chicagoan that was born and raised on the Southside of Chicago. I am proud to say that I am the product of Chicago Public Schools. I received my bachelor’s degree from Clark Atlanta University. Upon graduation, I returned to Chicago to begin my teaching career. I taught in Chicago Public Schools as a primary teacher. I absolutely loved it. Teaching is definitely my passion. I went back to school to obtain my first masters in School Leadership from Concordia University and my second masters from National Louis University in Educational Leadership.  I started my administrative career as the assistant principal at Walt Disney Magnet School. This wonderful experience led me to the leadership role that I currently hold her at Woodson.

I absolutely love Carter G. Woodson Elementary School. We have outstanding teachers that are masters of their craft, students that are ready for educational challenge, and strong community support. There isn’t a better place to learn and grow than Woodson!

Outside of school I enjoy the creative arts. This includes music, theater, and most forms of art.   I also have a passion for photography. The one thing that I am known for is my love of scrapbooking. The one thing that I would want someone to remember about me is that I love to inspire children to do more than they ever thought they could aspire to achieve.
